Light, Line, Color, and Space

3 February – 31 March 2018

The UB Art Galleries is pleased to present Light, Line, Color, and Space, an exhibition celebrating the past five years of new acquisitions from among hundreds of recent gifts to the permanent collection. Strengthening key areas in the UB Art Galleries collection and offering fresh opportunities for learning, this selection includes an exciting range of modern and contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. Presenting the work within the prescribed categories of light, line, color, and space, the exhibition showcases connections across generations and media. Recontexualizing these works within the gallery through formal categorization allows for new relationships to form and opens up further scholarship.

Artists include Pierre Alechinksy, Richard Bassett, Mary Bauermeister, Patricia Bazelon, Norman Bluhm, Seymour Boardman, Elaine Breiger, Harvey Breverman, Dennis Byng, John Cage, Larry Calcagno, Rosemarie Castoro, Alik Cavaliere, Carl Chiarenza, Edouardo Chillida, Adele Cohen, Bruce Conner, Hisao Domoto, Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Sam Francis, Gego, Graham Gilmore, Gottfried Honegger, Ben Hoffman, John Hultberg, Paul Jenkins, Saul Kovner, Chet LaMore, Roberto Matta, Arnold Mesches, Louise Nevelson, Lydia Okumura, Nathan Oliveira, Philip Pavia, Cesare Peverelli, Lil Picard, Ken Price, Robert Rauschenberg, Kate Ritson, Frank Roth, Yoshishige Saito, Ludwig Sander, David Schirm, William Scott, Julian Stanczak, Antoni Tapies, Team Razor Wire (N.C.
